Learning to Stand out from the Crowd with Wickes.
Do you want to follow best practice or actually do something that makes you stand out?
Pollyanna Ward is the Digital Marketing Manager at UK DIY supplier Wickes. Her presentation at MAD Anywhere last year talked about how brands can be distinctive in social when the world is in lockdown.
Her view is that the surge in social has been driven by the need for convenience and connection with people joining social media having gone up by 12% in 12 months. The downside of this is that brands have been inadvertently been producing content that looks a bit samey.
Pollyanna’s proposal is that brands should make sure that when they produce content for social it needs to be obvious who the post has come from and what the brand actually sells. This needs to be combined with actually getting it in front of the right people and being specific about the outcome you’re after.
Unfortunately, there’s more to it than that. but you’ll have to check out the video to hear the rest of Pollyanna’s gems.
