What is the best marketing tip you’ve ever received and who was it from?
“What’s the story you want to tell?” This came from Patrick Venning - Co-Founder Market Row Rum (formerly Marketing Director, Pernod Ricard)
How have you put this marketing tip to good use?
Storytelling is the oldest human trait for communication. Stories are human nature. Tell a story with human insight at its heart and you’ll always have a compelling marketing message. I use this from writing presentation decks, briefs and ensure our output has this at its heart.
What marketing tips does the industry need most right now?
Ensuring it continues to prove it’s ROI in the boardroom particularly during a crisis when the marketing budget is usually cut but all the research points to successful brands being those who spend more and emerge the other side the better for it.
How brand experience is not the responsibility of the marketing department but of the whole company both internally and externally.
What is the marketing tip you give most often?
Always be in the shoes of your audience and tell them a story they didn’t know they needed to hear.
